So, how do you spot a quality candle? First, the real high quality ones come with instructions which tell how long the candles will burn. It is important that you burn your candle to the minimum of time suggested in the instructions provided.

Next, check the wicks of the candles. You should avoid the long wicks and trim them before use. If you notice that your candles give out excessive smoke or if these wicks drown in the wax, then they are the wrong types of wicks.

Container or Filled Candles are candles in heat resistant containers. They are found in attractive containers. Usually heat resistant glass jars and ceramic containers are used as their containers.

Specialty candles are candles, which were molded into various shapes and sizes. If you want a unique touch, you can use specialty candles shaped like hearts, flip-flops, flowers, roses or shells. They make adorable gifts for your guests and are very attractive when colorful and scented.

Votive candles are the ones we see in church sometimes; they are usually 2 ½ inches, stout and square or cylindrical in shape. They should be burned in heat resistant, glass containers to ensure safety.

Tea light candles are small candles, usually 1 and ½ ‘ in diameter and about ¾ ‘ high in a metal (tin) container. They are used in food warmers and in tea light holders and in burning fragrance oils.

Luminaria candles are decorative candles for outdoor use. They are candles usually buried in sand inside a container.
