Candy Wedding Favors – Sweet and Simple

Now that you are getting married, it is important to choose the right kinds of wedding favors—ones that will delight your guests. Nowadays, you can find a wide variety of mementos that come in different shapes, sizes, colors, designs, and styles. Some are simple, while others are extravagant.
Just like other wedding supplies, there are also several factors that need to be considered before buying wedding favors. One of these, of course, is the budget. Weddings can be expensive, and if you were not careful with your purchases, you would definitely strain your finances.

If you want to incur savings from huge wedding expenses, consider giving candy wedding favors. There are many reasons why candies make such a great favors. For one, candies are inexpensive yet you can still find ways to make them look pleasing to your guests. You will need the following: chopped semi-sweet chocolate (10 ounces), caramel candies bought from any grocery store (2 ounces), chopped cashews (1 ounce), and cream (1 tbsp.). You also need to have specialized candy bar molds. In this particular recipe, the mold has to have 8 cavities with the following dimensions: length: 2 inches, width: 1 inch, depth: 1 inch. If you intend to use other molds, there may be certain adjustments to the quantities of each ingredient. Follow these steps in making chocolate caramel candy wedding favors:

- The first step is to clean and dry your molds before using. Then, using a double boiler, temper the chopped chocolates. Afterwards, fill the mold cavities with the chocolate and also coat the sides and the bottom of the cavities with a fine chocolate layer by inverting and swirling the mold. Now you can place the mold in the refrigerator to allow for the chocolate to set.

- Then, place the caramels, cream, and a tablespoon of water in a bowl that is safe for microwaving. Microwave first for one minute, then check for consistency. If the caramel is not yet liquid and smooth, microwave it again. Do this until such a time that the caramel has already melted completely. Slightly cool the caramel and see to it that it is lukewarm yet easy to mix.

- Take out the set chocolate mold from the fridge, and then fill the cavities (about two-thirds full) with caramel. Cover the caramel by sprinkling and pressing the chopped nuts over it. Do not let the nut layer reach up to the topmost part of the mold cavities.

- You can now cover the candy bar tops with the excess chocolate. Note: The chocolate may be re-warmed. Then, using a knife or metal spatula, scrape the excess chocolate from the cavities. Lastly, place the mold back in the refrigerator to completely set the chocolate caramel candy bar.

These chocolate caramel candy wedding favors can be placed in favor boxes. You can decorate the favor boxes in such a way that your wedding colors and the wedding theme are incorporated. You can also personalize the candy favors by adding a note or tag that comes with the boxes, indicating your names, the wedding date, and personal thank-you message.
