Tips for Wedding Vows by the Wedding Expert
Writing your wedding vows can be a bit daunting. Here are some tips to help you personalize your wedding vows.
Remember that your wedding vows are an expression of your personal commitment to each other. Use your vows to express who you are, sharing your beliefs about marriage. Your vows should be personal and meaningful, so avoid generalizations.
Use the K.I.S.S. formula by keeping your vows brief and to the point. This is often more meaningful than a long ramble.
No matter what you write, ensure your officiant has a copy of your vows so they can prompt you if you stumble on the words and get confused.
Nerves happen, and often at the worst possible moment. At my girlfriend’s wedding, her husband went to say his vows and said, “I, Elizabeth, take you……” Everyone had a chuckle. So much for his perfectly memorized vows.
WEDDING TRIVIA
Ladies should always take the left arm of their escorts. The man should offer his left arm so that his sword arm is free to protect her.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
To have and to hold from this day forward, for better or worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish to death do us part.
